Cypress Cove

Perched atop a coastal bluff overlooking the Pacific, this site was envisioned as a soulful family retreat—an opportunity to reconnect and attune to the rhythms of the Big Sur coast. The main house is nestled between a grove of native cypress and the rugged ocean edge, offering exhilarating views of the ever-changing sea. Inspired by the deeply carved coves that define the coastline, the upper landscape terraces into the hillside, forming a natural amphitheater for recreation and large gatherings. Below, a long stone wall anchors the composition, establishing a level plinth for the home and accentuating the fractured drama of the bluff's edge.
